For a very low one-time purchase price of $49, you can use BackupBC forever! Think the cost of not having BackupBC on ALL your websites. Imagine explaining to your client why there is no backup for their website, when it only costs $49 to install BackupBC.

What are you waiting for? Get BackupBC right now and sleep better at night!

White Labeled

No matter whether you rebrand Business Catalyst as your own or not, we’ve white labeled our backup product so your clients will experience backups as a seamless part of your platform. You’ll never see BackupBC or Business Catalyst brands with our product, so your brand is safe!

Cool & Customizable

You can choose what you want to backup, and even select only your most recent files, which saves storage space if you have a large website. It’s also super easy to set your storage preferences.

Cloud, Local & Remote:

You can save backups on your website, on your local drive, or on Dropbox and Google Drive for fast and easy retrieval.

What gets backed up?

BC’s Open Platform allows access to major parts of your websites -- but not to everything. We currently are able to provide backups of:

  • Files and Folders

  • Web Apps

  • eCommerce Catalogs and Products

  • Blogs

  • CRM Customers and Cases*

Note: Only the standard CRM fields are backed up. Extended CRM data is not backed up at this time. Exercise discretion when restoring CRM data if you have extended your CRM, as importing the unextended CRM fields will result in losing your extended CRM. Also note, cases and orders are only exported in json format, which at this point are not importable from the admin console. Contact BackupBC.com about custom import support for cases and orders.

As more APIs become available, we will be able to backup more aspects of the platform.

25 Apr 2014 - Version 1.1

Thanks to the helpful feedback from BackupBC clients, we’ve made some significant improvements to the app and fixed quite a number of bugs. If you have any problems creating a backup with this latest version, please get in touch with us so we can get it fixed.

  • Fixed an issue with e-commerce catalog hierarchy structures more than 2 levels deep
  • Fixed an issue where errors returned from the e-commerce api no longer drop the respective catalog and products from the backup (these were previously reported as a 500 error)
  • Fixed an issue where commas in some e-commerce and CRM Customer fields caused malformed CSV files
  • Added a patch for issues where special characters in some e-commerce and CRM Order fields caused the xml parser to fail (these were previously reported as a 200 error)
  • Added a check for illegal characters in catalog names that caused the CSV file to not properly import - these are now left out of the backup, shown to the user and included in the readme file
  • Now uses the latest bcapi.js (v 0.1.0)
  • Additional debugging information added to log file
  • Updated the progress weighting algorithms to better represent progress for e-commerce backups
  • Fixed empty object returned in one of the product group "string" elements where it’s been just left out before
  • Changed the checks on this and a few other elements in the api’s response to hopefully catch all of those
20 Mar 2014 - Version 1.0

After extensive beta testing, we are pleased to release the 1.0 version of BackupBC!

Thank you to all the beta testers and the early adopters. We truly appreciate your trust in us, and your feedback has been invaluable.

Our goal in this release was to fix any remaining bugs and improve speed and reliability. If you’ve already purchased BackupBC make sure to update your app to get the latest release for free. You will certainly be very pleased with the improvements.

In addition to the speed increase and the reliability of the overall app, we also improved the following:

  • Due to the API limitations, uploads are limited to 250MB. So if your backup archive is larger than that, you will receive an alert warning you about that. We also provide a button to download the backup file to your local machine for browsers that support this. This currently includes IE, Firefox and Chrome. This feature does not work in Safari.
  • Fixed an issue with IE 11 support for transferable objects in web workers.
  • We also made some more speed and reliability optimizations to the main scripts.
  • 05 Mar 2014 - Version 0.9.3

Barring any unforeseen problems, this should be our final beta release!

Our goal in this final beta release was to fix any remaining bugs and improve speed and lower memory usage. If you’ve purchased the app make sure to update your app to get the latest release. You will certainly be very pleased with the improvements.

In addition to the speed increase and the reliability of the overall app, we also improved the following:

    • The big one: We’ve written a custom archiving library, completely replacing JSZip. This is also now being run in a separate thread from the main browser via web workers, significantly improving the speed of the archive generation step (don’t blink or you might miss it!).
    • The other big one: We’ve introduced a logging option that allows our users to obtain a log file for debugging purposes. This does slow down your backup times, so please only enable it if you are having trouble backing up your site and want to send us your log file for debugging.
    • Fixed - an error that was occurring during web app backups when sites that previously had web apps no longer do or for sites without web apps.
    • Fixed - corrupted files that caused the backup to hang before the archive generation step.
    • Fixed - an error occurring when the web app api returns a null for web app item detail rather than a string.
    • We’ve introduced a possible fix for issues where the backup hangs a few items short of complete then restarts.
    • We also made some more speed and reliability optimizations to the main scripts.
    26 Feb 2014 - Version 0.9.1

Our goal in this next beta release was to fix the bug that was preventing sites from being backed up and significantly increasing the speed in creating backups. If you’ve purchased the app make sure to update your app to get the latest release. You will certainly be very pleased with the improvements.

In addition to the speed increase and the reliability of the overall app, we also improved the following:

    • Added the ability to generate a backup of files from and to a specific date (can be useful on backing up larger site, to break them up into chunks)
    • Updated the UI to make it more clear what steps are needed for completion and what is currently being done
    • Update the UI once the backup has been completed
    • Set up a hang check for the uploads (after 1 minute of no progress, we abort the upload and retry it)
    • Fixed a bug where on two successive backups sometimes the second failed to properly generate
    • Fixed the error tracking to not report files with illegal characters that are not within the given date range
    • Streamlined some more of the script to reduce size
    • Removed the downloadify plugin entirely since it’s no longer needed
    26 Feb 2014 - Version 0.9.0
